TORRANCE, Calif., April 2, 2026 – American Honda Motor Co., Inc., today announced that more than one million students have taken part in its innovative Honda Safety Driven young driver safety initiative in partnership with Discovery Education. With nearly one-third of annual traffic fatalities in the U.S. involving drivers under the age of 25, the multi-year safety education program is working to equip young drivers across the country with the knowledge and skills needed to drive more safely.

Even as Honda engineers continue to advance vehicle design and performance, the company believes technology alone is not enough to achieve its challenging goal of zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. The Honda safety strategy is committed to further advancing safety for everyone sharing the road through three domains: advancing technology, augmenting safety awareness efforts to influence driver behavior, and working with government, industry and community partners to improve the traffic safety ecosystem. In other words, Honda is seeking to achieve Safety for Everyone, with everyone.

“We are proud to achieve this important milestone of one million students with our safety-awareness program but our real goal is zero – as in zero fatalities in traffic collisions involving our vehicles,” said MJ Foxley, Safety Strategy leader at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Research consistently shows that human behavior is a key factor in the majority of traffic fatalities in the U.S., and Honda Safety Driven aims to buck that trend by to improving young driver behavior through innovative and fun educational experiences.”

Honda Safety Driven
The Honda Safety Driven initiative, in partnership with Discovery Education, applies real-world Science, Technology Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) concepts to empower students with safe driving skills and encourage responsible decision-making. The educational initiative launched in Oct. 2023 with a virtual field trip for students in grades 3-12, bringing them inside Honda’s one-of-a-kind Automotive Safety Research Facility in Raymond, Ohio and the Driving Simulation Laboratory at The Ohio State University. To date, this virtual field trip has reached more than 250,000 students, and educators are expected to continue to use it each new school year as part of their evolving curriculum.

For this third year of the program, Honda launched a video series called Honda Safety in Action: From Racetrack to Roadway – It Takes All of Us, featuring IndyCar driver and Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon and champion motocross riders Jett and Hunter Lawrence of the Honda HRC Progressive racing team, demonstrating how racing at high speeds can inspire real-world safe riding and driving habits. The two-part video series explored safety for both four-wheel and two-wheel vehicles, including bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and motorcycles, giving Honda a new way to interest and engage with students by translating elite racing insights into practical, everyday safety tips.

“Safety isn’t just about what a vehicle can do; it’s about the choices people make. Our work with Honda meets students early, helping them understand how judgment, awareness, and behavior play a role in keeping themselves and others safe. Reaching one million students shows what’s possible when education and industry work together with purpose,” said Catherine Dunlop, senior vice president of Corporate Partnerships at Discovery Education.

Honda Safety Driven also launched new program elements in 2024, the second year of the program, with two safety education resources online and through Discovery Education’s network. This included an interactive crash test video game called “Crash Course” to entertain and educate students about the physics of a car crash and how different factors can affect the level of risk to passengers, and a digital lesson bundle called “Pedestrian Safety” that teaches students about road safety for those not behind the wheel. An educator guide, presentation, family action plans, and accompanying e-bike and e-scooter safety student activity take the learning further.

Other Honda Safety Initiatives
Honda leads a variety of awareness and education initiatives towards its safety goal, including the Honda Safety Driven Program with Discovery Education, the Honda DriverCoaching App and three rider education centers in California, Georgia and Ohio.

To further advance safety initiatives in the community, Honda and the Honda USA Foundation have contributed more than $8 million to nonprofit organizations and schools over the past four years, supporting programs that promote safe driving practices, awareness and education both on and off the road. These programs include education, training and resources that supplement or go beyond traditional driver’s training courses or mandated state driver’s programs.

Honda Commitment to Safety
Honda is committed to further advancing safety for everyone sharing the road, which is captured in the Honda global safety slogan “Safety for Everyone.” The company has established a global goal to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. To realize this challenging goal, technology alone is not enough, so Honda sees the path forward as pursuing Safety for Everyone…with everyone.

Honda is expanding its focus beyond advanced safety and driver assistive technologies, to include efforts to augment safety awareness to influence rider and driver behavior and improve the traffic safety ecosystem by working with government, industry and community partners.

Charlotte, NC (Tuesday, March 31, 2026) — Discovery Education today announced the Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem, a unified K-12 framework that embeds AI, instructional resources, adaptive learning, and professional readiness directly into the daily flow of teaching. Built on more than 20 years of teaching and learning excellence and trusted by 45% of U.S. K-12 schools, the Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem (“Ecosystem”) delivers trusted curriculum, intelligent tools, and responsive partnership as a single coherent approach.

According to a report by the Consortium for School Networking, more than half of U.S. school districts are now deploying AI, yet 72% leverage it only 10% of the time or less. As AI tools proliferate faster than guidance or trust can keep pace, Discovery Education’s approach is to bring new capabilities together within a coherent, instruction-centered framework.

The Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem is designed to support the transition to AI in K-12 by bringing together vetted, standards-aligned content, adaptive pathways, AI-powered instructional tools, and sustained professional learning. Grounded in classroom practice, it helps districts move beyond isolated technology solutions toward more consistent, system-wide use while building educator confidence and fluency over time. The Ecosystem also supports the broader context of this shift, including educators adapting to new expectations, families seeking assurance that technology is used responsibly, and students developing the skills needed to succeed in an AI-driven world.

“AI is not the answer. Great teaching is,” said Brian Shaw, Chief Executive Officer at Discovery Education. “The Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem puts AI in service of instruction, directly in the flow of teaching, grounded in learning science, and built to move every student forward. As with past shifts in education technology, we remain focused on helping districts and educators navigate this transition with clarity and confidence.”

Five Pillars of the Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem

The Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem is built on five foundational pillars with AI and the science of teaching and learning woven throughout to deliver the right resource, at the right moment, for every learner. The five pillars of the Discovery Education Connected Ecosystem include:
