GDC Supports Local High School Student Efforts to Attend Apple Worldwide Conference
Chambersburg, Pennsylvania – June 3, 2015
Global Data Consultants, LLC (GDC), a leading managed IT solutions and staffing technology provider headquartered in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, announces a donation of $1000 to local high school student, Matthew (Matt) Seaman, to help the Chambersburg Area Career Magnet School (CMS) efforts in raising money for his attendance to the Apple Worldwide Conference.
Thomas J. Trgovac, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and Dennis C. Coons, Execute Vice President, of GDC presented a check in the amount of $1000 to Matt Seaman on June 2, 2015. GDC proudly supports Matt for his accomplishments and encourages other students to put their creativity to work in the technology world.
Matt Seaman, a junior at the Chambersburg Area Career Magnet School, is one of 300 students worldwide selected to receive a student scholarship to attend the Apple Worldwide Conference next week. After submitting his application to Apple last month, Apple provided him with a free ticket to the conference, which is usually open only to registered Apple developers and costs $1600. A local fundraising effort and gofundme.com page was created to provide enough money to cover his hotel and travel expenses.
In order to be considered for a WWDC scholarship, students had to use their creativity and computer coding skills to build and submit a computer app that tells all about them. Students also had to have proof of enrollment in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) school.
The WWDC will feature more than 100 technical sessions, over 1,000 Apple engineers, hands-on labs, and the Apple Design Awards will be presented. Millions worldwide will be able to watch sessions streamed live, according to the WWDC website.
